GLCS Missions Emphasis
In 2002, Gospel Light Christian School began supporting "missions" by raising money to help meet the needs of special ministries and
missionaries. GLCS understands the importance of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ to everyone. Each year Bro. Bobby chooses a
mission work to give the love offering to. This year he has chosen three works. The Orton's who are doing work in Haiti, alumnus
Morgan Ayers who is in Peru, and our own Mr. & Mrs. Holley who will be going to South Dakota in the summer. We will collect
money weekly during the month of March. We will celebrate the end of Mission's Month with a "World Bazaar" on Friday night, April
1. Please help us by sending in donations! All money goes toward our missionaries; we do not take anything out for expenses.
Please help us support our missionary through daily prayer and by giving as the Lord allows!
Thank You for your help with 2009's Missions Month!...
A BIG "Thank You" to all who supported the 2009 "Missions Emphasis"!
With your help we were able to send $3,000 to the Weimer family in Iceland and $3,000 to the Bailey's in Laos. We also sent $358.00
to the Jewish End-Time Ministries which enabled them to send out 10,000 tracts! Praise the Lord for your participation!
Praise the Lord! 2010 Missions Emphasis--
We raised $6,800 for the Herrell Family during our 2010 Missions Month, with our Teen Church
and at the World Bazaar!
MORGAN AYERS: My name is Morgan Ayers, and I am 23 years old. I graduated from Gospel Light in 2006 and attended Bob Jones University.
I majored in Early Childhood Education and minored in Spanish. In high school at Gospel Light, I had many opportunities through the
bus ministry, high school Spanish classes, and youth group mission trips to be exposed to the Hispanic culture and Spanish language.
Early on I developed a love for the language and native speakers. I had the opportunity to meet representatives from La Molina Christian
School in Lima, Peru, while at Bob Jones. Since hearing about the ministry in Lima, I have been increasingly burdened with the need
to share the Gospel with these children. Teaching children is a passion close to my heart, and I am so excited about using my love
for teaching to impact children for Christ. My heart's desire is to use my life for more than myself. I am currently teaching in a
Preschool classroom at La Molina. Please pray for the hearts of my students and their parents. WWW.HOLAMORGAN.COM
THE ORTON'S: Knute and Lillian Orton both started with humble beginnings. Knute was born into an apple farming family in Algona, Iowa, and
Lillian lived in Omaha, Nebraska, where her father worked at the Martin Bomber Plant during World War II. Both were saved
at a young age, and then as a teenager strayed from the Lord due to whimsical, selfish concepts of Christ. Eventually, God's
call brought them back, and led them to Omaha Bible Institute where they met, fell in love, and married. Individually, the Orton's had
answered God's call to the mission field, so when brought together they pursued missions through the medical field, all
of which they believed to be God's will. Initially, all of their dreams were shot down by obstacles and hindrances, but the steps
of a good man are ordered by the Lord. So, sure enough, things began to work out. A missionary spoke in a service about Africa and
the need for dentists there, so without delay the Ortons began studying to fill that gap. Since their first term to Africa they have
served in many places, most recently and currently Haiti where they are working to further the gospel through the provision of dental
care. God has truly blessed the mission work of this godly couple who have entirely dedicated their life to serving the Lord.
THE HOLLEY FAMILY: Clint was saved at age fifteen at Gospel Light Baptist Church. Jerry Johnston was preaching a revival sermon
on "Professing Christians in Hell". It was at that point that he knew he needed to accept Christ as his Savior and begin a relationship
with Christ. Within a year, he surrendered to missions, but had not been called to a specific field. At Trinity Baptist College he
was led by God to become a Christian school teacher. Amy was saved in her home at age six. At age 16, she surrendered
to be a missionary. Like Clint, she had not been called to a specific field. At Trinity Baptist College, she received
her degree in education. In 2009, they were burdened to go on a missions trip. Clint's uncle is a dentist/missionary on
an Indian reservation and he wrote about the condition of the Lakota people. They prayed about going to see the work being done
there. In April they went to visit. The Holley’s were involved in the ministry on a short trip there and instantly fell
in love with the Lakota. They came home and asked the Lord to open doors if this was where He wanted them to go. He closed
some doors, but opened many others. In May of 2010 they knew that this was where God was leading them to go. Clint has
been asked to be the Administrator of Windswept Academy. This is a new mission school that has been started for the
Lakota children. He and Amy will teach in the school. They will also establish after school Bible clubs, a ladies Bible
study group, and will arrange for groups to help with VBS all throughout the summer. This is an open door and a tool to get
onto this reservation. This tribe still holds to centuries old traditions and spiritualism. The hope is in the children.
If the Holley’s can give them the gospel and let it change them, then their prayer is that the tribe will be changed. The Holley’s
have seen through the years how God has brought them to this place, preparing for this new ministry. It has been a blessing
to be involved in the ministry of Gospel Light Christian School.
